Advanced iPhone information.
For one thing, the first generation iPhone called the "2G"
(they should have called it the 1G)
In may ways it is far BETTER then the 3G or the 3Gs
The 2G is by far the easiest to UnLock and or JailBreak
This is just a small example of cool stuff you can do to your iPhone.

Use only JailBreaks and UnLocks from:
- The first thing you should consider BEFORE you JailBreak or try to UnLock your SIM,
are the side effects.
- The second thing you may want to do is find out exactly what darn iPhone you have !
And again, Wikipedia comes to our rescue.
- The third thing you need to know is that all the FREE programs you use
MAY have spyware in them.
- And lastly, if your goal is to use T-Mobile SIM, you are gonna be stuck using EDGE !
Speed Kills
The iPhone (2G, 1G, whatever you want to call the FIRST iPhone) has:
- A ARM (v1.0) CPU running @ 412 MHz (under-clocked from 620 MHz).
- 116 MB RAM.
- Bus speed of 100 MHz.
You should not have to, but if the SIM UnLock did not work use,
BootNeuter (2.10).
a package avail via Cydia.
Use this trick to change your User Wallpaper and User Lock Background Wallpaper.
Yeaaaaaaa, we now have a easy to use and FREE SIM card editor !
SO, what interesting "side effects" can we expect when we JailBreak and or UnLock our poor old 2G iPhone ?
A lot, read on !
- You have no internat (DATA) connection because your APN is wrong or missing altogether.
- You have no WiFi ? gOOgle told me to "Reset Network Settings".....
- Tether’ing is a bitch on a good day.
- So you are all done, and now you want to sell it ?
- You want to put it back to "factory", but you do not want to DFU or "Restore" it.
rm -R /private/var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control/iTunes
Do not forget to "sign out" from the store, Settings > Store
- If YouTube will not start get the two certs (youtube-cert.bin and youtube-key.bin) and add them to your
ls -asl /var/Keychains/
folder. AND OR NOT, (do u get the pun ?) use "Push Doctor" via Cydia, add source repo:

What is the baseband ?
It is the generic name given to the internal components of the iPhone that handle the phone calls and Internet access.
This baseband is a tiny and unique independent computer system that runs inside your iPhone.
It is separate to the main system that handles the applications (such as email and google maps)
and it talks to the main part of the phone over an internal communications network.
Think of it like a cable modem or other peripheral that is attached to your home PC that needs occasional updates.
When a software update is released and presented to you within iTunes the baseband is sometimes updated.
(to fix bugs or add new features).
The 2.2 update for the iPhone 3G contains such an update, so running the vanilla updater straight away with
iTunes will reprogram and update the baseband.
This could be bad for certain people, depending on your ultimate aim.
